I am super excited about our 7 Habits of Happy Kids lessons, which are happening this week in 2nd and 3rd grades. It is my hope that students will learn these habits and incorporate them into their daily routines, both this year and for many years to come! This week we're learning and practicing Habit 1: Be Proactive. The objective of this lesson is to allow students to develop motivation, to take pride in their work, and mostly to learn to think about their choices! We'll talk about the fact that students choose their actions, attitudes and moods. We'll read the story of Goob Bear, who wants everyone to find ways to entertain him when he's bored. He learns that he is responsible for making his own fun. What are some ways that you are proactive?
Wow, this summer really went by quickly! I hope that everyone had the opportunity to relax, play, travel and decompress. Even though vacation is over, I'm very happy to be back at school, and to see everyone's smiling faces. Our students all seem to have grown several inches in June and July, and each one has the look of anticipation of making new friends, learning new things, and being another grade older. What are you excited about learning or doing this year?
